Not all is lost for Chino & Nacho fans. On Thursday, March 2, Jesus Miranda (best known as Chino) announced he’ll release his first solo official single, “Quedate Conmigo” (translation: Stay With Me), featuring Wisin & Gente de Zona, Billboard confirmed.
It has only been a week since the rumors of their separation boiled over and, in fact, on Feb. 24 during Premio Lo Nuestro, it was the group’s manager who published a very direct message on Instagram basically saying that everything was over.
The truth is that Chyno (who also modified his artistic name) has decided to officially launch a solo career with his first single “Quedate Conmigo.”
“It’s my first adventure,” Miranda told Billboard while filming the “Quedate” music video in Miami. The song was originally a demo sent to him by Wisin. Miranda, in the studio at the time, made some quick tweaks. “It was very natural,” he added. See a sneak peek below:
This project comes after he starred in the film El Malquerido, whose soundtrack was nominated for a Latin Grammy last year.
As for Nacho, Chyno says he has not sat down to talk to him about the future of the duo. “I do not have children, but Nacho has four,” he says. “We had an intense year and we are in a healthy recess. We did about 140 shows thanks to the success of ‘Andas en mi Cabeza’ and we really needed a break.”
Wisin, who was also in the video shoot and who was also part of a famous duo — Wisin y Yandel — had this piece of advice: “Although they no longer sing together, they must remain as a team and support each other that’s the magic.”
“Quedate” will be released in April and Chyno assured that this is not the only song he has recorded, he also has many more to share with his fans in due time.
