Christian Nodal walked the gray carpet at the 2019 Latin Power Players cocktail to talk about industry leaders, supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and new music.
The invite-only event, sponsored by Lexus and Tecate, Gran Centenario and City National Bank, took place Tuesday night (Oct. 15) in Los Angeles, honored some of the leading executives in the Latin music industry, to which Billboard asked Nodal what are some qualities an exec should have to manage an artist’s career.
“One of the main things is knowing your audience and who you’re trying to approach,” the Regional Mexican artist said. “When they understand what works for you and what doesn’t, that’s when you begin to produce your ideas and make them come true. Just as in life, relationships are very important. So, they must know the producers, composers, recording studios with the best quality to become successful.”
Rocking a t-shirt that says “Esta camiseta salva vidas” from St. Jude’s first Spanish-language campaign, Nodal also discussed the importance of supporting the cause. “I feel honored to be wearing this shirt,” he said. “St. Jude is a foundation where the hospital gives all sorts of services that children and their families need.”
Nodal, who’s a three-time nominee at the 2019 Latin AMAs and performer, also revealed that new music is on the way. “We just released a collaboration with Piso 21. A collab with Reik is on the way, so is one with Juanes,” he noted. “I’m also working on my third album.”
