In the new version of Jenni Rivera‘s song “Ovarios,” featured on Natalia Jiménez‘s tribute album Homenaje a la Gran Señora, Chiquis Rivera, daughter of the late singer, dedicates a heartfelt message to her mom.
In the middle of the track, a duet between Jiménez and Chiquis, the singer says: “Even though you’re not here physically, you still live in many people’s hearts. You’re still succeeding. You will always be number one. I love you, mom.”
Chiquis also wrote her part on the tune, where she sings, “Everybody remembers you. The family misses you. How I wish to hug you. Can you see how much I need you? It’s an honor to be the daughter of the ‘Diva de la Banda.'”

In an Instagram post, Chiquis adds: “There aren’t enough words to describe what my heart feels this very moment. Today marks four years from the day that changed my life forever. Even though it’s a very difficult day, not only for my family but for all of my mother’s fans, its things like these that make me smile. Thank you Natalia for this tribute. It is a great honor. I love the album. Thank you for making part of it.”
In a previous interview with Billboard, Jiménez talked about collaborating with Chiquis. “She wanted to record ‘Ovarios’ with me and we recorded it while she was in L.A. and I was in Miami but we were texting throughout the whole thing. She was super happy and said she felt very honored that I was doing this tribute. Chiquis says beautiful things about her mom in the song and she had a chance to express herself with the lyrics.”
Homenaje a la Gran Señora came out Friday (Dec. 9), four years after Jenni Rivera’s death. The album also includes a collaboration with Rivera’s brother Lupillo Rivera.
