Colombian singer Charlie Zaa is paying tribute to the late Mexican icon Joan Sebastian in his new video for “Un Idiota,” out Friday (Oct. 30).
Helmed by Luieville (Maluma, Alexis & Fido, Larry Hernandez), it combines heavy drinking, tears, and fire to convey the regret of a man who let the love of his life go. The song was originally written and performed by Sebastian, who died on July 13 at age 64 after a battle with cancer.
Joan Sebastian Has Record Week on Latin Charts
The single is off Zaa’s upcoming album Mi Mejor Regalo, which rounds up 10 of Sebastian’s best known hits, including “Una Noche Más” and “Rumores,” and gives them a delectable bachata, bolero and ranchera twist. Zaa tapped tropical veteran Sergio George as producer for the project, out Nov. 13 via Sony Music Latin.
