Latin music star Carlos Vives walks into a bar in Buenos Aires… That’s not a joke, it’s the set up for the video of a freewheeling new version of Los Auténticos Decadentes’ party anthem “La Guitarra.”
The song features Vives, Barcelona’s Macaco and Néstor Ramljak of the Argentine reggae group Nonpalidece, as well as Auténticos frontman Cucho Parisi, and is included on the album Los Auténticos Reggaementes. Set for release this Friday (June 9) on Buenos Aires’ Pop Art label, it’s the first in a planned series of recordings by a gathering of Argentine alternative artists called Klub, whose goal is to “pay homage to some of the artists who crossed borders, and opened a road to popularity for underground genres like reggae and ska.”
Klub is the brainchild of Sebastián Sebolla Paradisi, drummer for the band Los Cafres, and its members include Gustavo Estévez of La Zimbabwe, Maneco Saenz Germain (Mimi Maura), and Martín Moska Lorenzo, Aútenticos percussionist and producer. Special guests, who also include Fabulosos Cadillacs singer Vicentico, are featured on each track of Los Auténticos Reggaementes.
