Carla Morrison sets her eyes on a dreamy man who charms her with his looks and personality in her new music video “Azúcar morena.” Although both can’t keep their eyes off each other at first, the video takes an unexpected turn toward the end.

The Mexican singer and songwriter took to social media to explain the lyrics of the track that were inspired by her boyfriend. “What is the purpose of Azucar Morena? For me it’s important to celebrate darker skinned people in our country. I wrote this song for my boyfriend, a beautiful dark-skinned man who joins me on this journey. But I’ve noticed that in commercials, promos, etc., we often see people with light skin and blue eyes who are very handsome, but that’s not who we really are. Dark skin characterizes us. It’s beautiful and we should celebrate it.”
