Bomba Estereo’s Liliana Saumet gets to the point when asked why the “To My Love” Tainy remix is gaining in popularity more than two years after debuting.
“Honestly, I have no idea,” the singer said, as she walked along the beach in Santa Marta, Colombia. “It’s crazy, but it’s something so beautiful. Suddenly, so many more people are listening to it.”
The upbeat love song about one night that two people will never repeat again is the band’s biggest commercial hit of their career, thanks to the Tainy remix, which was first a streaming hit in Mexico, according to a rep for the band.
The song saw more than 225 million total streams, in addition to breaking into Spotify charts in 16 countries, the band rep added.
“Streaming has certainly played a role in all this,” Saumet said. “It’s also about people’s affections, and that’s why the music video features fans of the song. It’s beautiful to see.”
