Becky G finally dropped her bilingual trap song “LBD” on Friday (Jan. 18), after teasing fans with a snippet of it earlier in the week. The Mexican-American singer ventures into the world of trap with her flirty tune, as she sings about entrancing someone with her “little black dress on.” She also offers visuals, with the song’s red cover art as well as a lyric video depicting a caricature of the brunette beauty wearing an LBD and stilettos.
Becky G’s effortless confidence is on full display throughout the track, as she tackles the lyrics like a seasoned MC, “Every time you see me with my little black dress on/ Oh, you need me/ Say you want a freak some, I can see it,” she raps.
What sets the tune apart, though, is Becky’s Spanish flare on the sensual song’s bridge, “Es mucha tentación, tú puedes ver pero no tocar/ Usa tu imaginación, que nunca sabes que va a pasar Acércate a mí un poquito mas, oh-oh-oh/ Si te portas bien te lo voy a dar,” she sings.
Translation (get ready): “It’s a lot of temptation, you can look but not touch/ Use your imagination, because you never know what’s going to happen/ Get closer to me a little bit more, oh-oh-oh/ If you behave, I’ll give it to you.”
Although this isn’t the first time she’s out the genre — Becky appeared on 2018’s “Bubalu” with Anuel AA, Prince Royce, Mambo Kingz and DJ Luian — it’s a welcome addition to the 21-year-old’s more self-assured sound and lyrics.
