Bad Bunny sat down for Billboard‘s “How It Went Down” video series to explain how “I Like It,” his collaboration with Cardi B and J Balvin, came to be.
“I remember I got a call and they told me that they wanted me to participate in Cardi B’s album,” he explains. “They told me the track was a surprise, even for her. The producers were working on it. She didn’t know that track was being made.”
Bad Bunny and J Balvin then met up in the studio to work on the song. The pair, Bad Bunny explains, have a great chemistry together when it comes to making music. “I loved the track from the beginning,” he says, adding that even without him being on it, the track was already a hit.
“Everything was natural,” he continues, also revealing that it was an “amazing experience” to witness Invasion of Privacy hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and that it felt good to be a part of that.
Bad Bunny also discusses performing the song at Coachella during Cardi B’s set, explaining that he was surprised by how many Latinos were at the event.
“The feedback when J Balvin and I came out, you could feel the support from the Latinos and from the people that were not Latino,” he says, elaborating that he always wanted to go to Coachella as a kid and that having the opportunity to not only attend but to be there as a performer was “truly an incredible experience.”
