
The 68th edition of the Miss Universe pageant took place Sunday night at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, crowning Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa the 2019 Miss Universe. The special night, hosted by Steve Harvey in his fifth consecutive year, including various performances by Ally Brooke, who opened the ceremony with a medley of her own hits.
As a Texas-born artist, Brooke later took the stage for a heartfelt tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla, performing a medley of “I Could Fall in Love” and “Dreaming of You.” “Tonight has been incredible,” Brooke later expressed on Instagram.
Selena’s older sister, Suzette Quintanilla, filmed part of Brooke’s performance and shared the following message on social media. “Never imagined I would ever ever ever hear this song sung at a MISS UNIVERSE pageant! (Not the best recording I did with my phone) @allybrooke Thank you so much for this! Truly honored you chose this song and honored her.”
In addition to her Selena tribute, Brooke performed her new singles “Low Key” and “No Good.”
