It’s going to be a warm night in Los Angeles and even hotter when legends Alejandra Guzman and Gloria Trevi hit the iconic Hollywood Bowl stage for their final curtain call for one of their most illustrious career shows.
On Saturday (April 14), the final show for the Versus World Tour ends its run after launching nearly a year ago in the same city across town at the Staples Center.
The Bowl show is a huge deal and promises to be a spectacle because that’s precisely what Guzman and Trevi have done throughout their careers. Their concerts are filled with riveting music that have become soundtracks for many, from love songs that cause reflection to the celebration of independence.
As Guzman and Trevi prepare to give Los Angeles fans a show of shows and conquer the Bowl stage with a fired up bravado, the pair will forever add to their own legacies as two of the hardest working entertainers who have shown the world that anything is possible.
Here are 5 moments that celebrate the song, dance and business of their partnership as their monumental Versus tour comes to a close.
RAINBOW: Both recording artists are known for speaking their truth and standing by their fans. When Guzman performed “Reina de Corazones” and “Hacer el Amor Con Otro” at a Texas concert during the Versus tour, she sent her LGBTQ fans a clear message of strength and unity as she took a rainbow flag from the crowd and ran across the stage with it.
SPLITTING: At the tour’s opener last year, Trevi’s affinity for working out showed her in top physical form as she did the splits while performing on stage. Try that in 6-inch heels, not to mention while while singing those demanding songs.
AMOR: Mexican fans went wild in February when Guzman and Trevi presented two shows in Puebla for a crowd nearing 10,000. In reference to Guzman, Trevi declared, “As women, we are judged, and we have to fight because so much is put upon us. But with love and honesty, being together is a wonderful thing.”
CLASSICS: Trevi performs “Dr. Psiquiatra” as a nod to her ’80s music with big hair, while Guzman’s rock/pop love ballad, “Hacer el Amor Con Otro,” also makes for a welcome throwback. Each singer holds her own in music, but the two also shine when they unite to sing a newer song such as “Más Buena.” They illuminate each other while reaffirming that women need to be treated amazingly, equally and respectfully. The song’s video on YouTube has seen more than 53 million views.
INFINITY: The Versus Tour will go down in history as unique because it ultimately brings together two of Latin music’s most celebrated names who were often pitted against each other throughout their career. Authentic, empowering and a concert that’s not to be missed, the Versus tour succeeds in showing that two is better than one — and that these two, in particular, are unstoppable when they stand united.
