After the tragic news of Mexican actor Renato Lopez’s death Thursday (Nov. 24), Juanes took to social media to pay tribute to Lopez, who starred in the Colombian singer/songwriter’s latest music video, “Fuego.”
“I am moved by the death of our beloved and charismatic Renato. I am at loss of words after finding out what happened. Just a few weeks ago he was with me in Medellin shooting for our video. I think about his family, his girlfriend, friends, our team and I can’t find peace, only prayer. It was an honor to have you in our journey. It’s an immense sadness,” Juanes wrote on Instagram.
Lopez — who was a 33-year-old actor, host and songwriter — and publicist Omar Giron were found dead inside a vehicle with wounds caused by firearms, according to State of Mexico authorities. There is still an ongoing investigation.
Other Latin musicians like Gloria Trevi and Dulce Maria took to Twitter to lament the news.
“Aside from everything Renato Lopez did for us, he left us his song ‘Fuego con fuego’ and he also acted in my music video ‘Vestida de azucar,'” Trevi tweeted.
Aparte de todo lo q hizo @Renatolopez1 a los trevilanders nos dejó el tema “fuego con fuego” y actuó en el video “vestida de azúcar”—-
