Before the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards air April 25, live from Las Vegas, let’s take a closer look at the finalists in the producer of the year category.
Andrés Torres/ Mauricio Rengifo
Best known as the producers of “Despacito,” the team of Andrés Torres and Mauricio Rengifo have left their mark on the Latin charts with hits by artists including Sebastian Yatra, Piso 21 and Juanes, to name a few — and, of course, Luis Fonsi.
DJ Snake
The French DJ and producer DJ Snake scored a No. 1 hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart with the international sensation “Taki Taki,” featuring Ozuna, Selena Gomez and Cardi B. (“Taki Taki” is currently holding strong at No. 2 after 19 weeks on the chart.) DJ Snake is a finalist in five categories, including crossover artist of the year.
Jose Martin Velázquez
The runaway track “Te Bote,” Jose Martin Velázquez’s collaboration with Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam, Ozuna and Bad Bunny, lands him as a finalist in the producer of the year category.
Chris Jeday
Puerto Rican producer Chris Jeday counts the Daddy Yankee and Anuel AA collaboration “Adictiva” among his Latin chart hits.
