In July 2015, we learned that Willie Nelson would become the first country artist to earn the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Yesterday (Oct. 21), we learned the details of those festivities.
Willie Nelson will be honored at an invitation-only gala on Nov. 18th in Washington, D.C.’s DAR Constitution Hall.
And since this is a Washington, D.C. gala, a star-studded list of guests will be on hand to honor Nelson. Neil Young’s current band, the Promise of the Real, will pay tribute to the 82-year old legend — a fitting move since it features Nelson’s son Lukas on vocals and guitar. Alison Krauss, Paul Simon, Rosanne Cash, Leon Bridges, will also be in attendance.
The tribute concerts will air Jan. 15 at 9 p.m. (ET) on PBS.
