Michael Ray stopped to speak with Billboard’s Taylor Weatherby on the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday (June 6) in Nashville, discussing his new album Amos and his love of Ellen DeGeneres.
Asked what he thinks are some standout fan-favorites on his new record, Ray said, “It’s always cool to see what fans gravitate towards…A song called ‘Dancing Forever’ really seems to be a big one.”
“One that we felt that would be great connection is a song called ‘Her World or Mine,” he continued. “The whole response to the whole album, honestly, has been just unbelievable and it’s been one of the best weeks of my life launching this record and seeing the reaction that people are having with this album.”
Ray is also asked about his recent appearance on Ellen, of which he says that he watches the show “all the time.”
“I love what [Ellen DeGeneres] stands for,” he shared. “I love her heart, I love the fact that she’s that one light of hope…Walking in the studio…you could tell that her hand’s into everything because the backstage, you forgot you were doing one of the biggest television shows out…I’ll come back as much as she’ll have me!”
