One day after accepting the Breakthrough Star Award at the Billboard Women In Music event, fast-rising country star Maren Morris was in Studio 8H for last night’s (Dec. 10) John Cena-hosted Saturday Night Live.
Morris’ debut record, Hero, debuted at the top of Billboard’s Country Album chart this past June thanks in part to a fan base cultivated on streaming services and a lot of support for first single “My Church,” which has since gone platinum. The singer has been hard at work since — last week she received four Grammy nominations.

“Having people sing my lyrics back to me at every show is the hardest evidence that they’re translating to a massive number of people,” Morris told Billboard last week, ahead of that Women In Music event. “You can’t shake that feeling.”
