Trisha Yearwood — three-time Grammy winner and star of the Daytime Emmy-winning cooking show Trisha’s Southern Kitchen — took to Facebook on Thursday (April 6) to announce that she’ll miss the April 30 stop on her tour with husband Garth Brooks (“the boss has given me the night off”) to attend the Daytime Emmys that night.
The tour is scheduled to hit Champaign, Illinois, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (April 28-30) at State Farm Center; the Daytime Emmys will only affect the Sunday show.
Yearwood, whose cooking show is nominated for outstanding culinary program, made the announcement while embracing her rescue pup named Emmy in her lap, joking that whether or not she wins the gold, she’s already got her “Emmy” at home.
“I’ve got some good news and some bad news,” she says in the video. “The good news is Trisha’s Southern Kitchen has been nominated for its second Emmy! It has won one, and we’re up for another one. The only bad news is that the Emmys is on April 30th, which is also a date in Champaign, Illinois, with my husband Garth Brooks. So, the boss has given me the night off. I will not be at that show; I will be at the Emmys.
“But I wanted do to this with my Emmy that I’m holding, because I’m really happy with the one that I have. If we don’t win, we’ve already got an Emmy,” she adds. “And if we do win, hopefully — although you’re doing so good, she’s like, ‘What is happening?’ — hopefully the other Emmy won’t be this heavy. So anyway, just wanted to let you guys know. Thank you for your support and go TSK!”
