The Talbott Brothers’ vulnerable new song “Without a Doubt,” which Billboard premieres today (Oct. 9), paints the picture of the push and pull of a relationship. With haunting brotherly harmonies by Tyler and Nick Talbott, the stripped down track details a man telling a woman that he wants her “to love me without a doubt.”
“’Without a Doubt’ is about reaching your breaking point in a relationship,” the Nebraska natives tell Billboard. “You either fight for it, tooth and nail, or you don’t. Real love forces you to let go of expectations and embrace someone, flaws in all.”
“Without a Doubt” is featured on the duo’s upcoming sophomore album Ghost Talker, due out Oct. 18. The duo say it wanted to “take off the mask” and be honest with the project and hope what they needed to say is what listeners needed to hear.
“After our last album was released, and playing more than 200 shows in the US and Canada, we were constantly going from one thing to the next without taking much time to slow down and enjoy each moment to the fullest,” they admit. “After a friend of ours invited us to Kauai, an opportunity for rest presented itself and the premise of Ghost Talker was born.
“Hard-hearted and burnt out from the road, the emotions we had suppressed began to re-surface and seep into our daily lives in various forms. Anxiety, self-doubt, worry, loneliness and resentment, combined with ghosts from our past, became bad medicine for bones. It’s a tough thing to face these things on your own but an even more challenging when they begin affecting relationships, work and everything else around you. Ghost Talker is about going to war with oneself, owning up to mistakes and becoming better through the process.”
