Sturgill Simpson refuses to be pinned down. The Sailor’s Guide to Earth singer has continually surprised fans with his choices, from hooking up with Stephen Colbert for a Waffle House theme song, to his moving cover of Nirvana‘s “In Bloom” and an unexpected debut at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums chart in May, he’s a hard man to pin down.
On the eve of launching his upcoming North American tour — which kicks off on Aug. 5 in Montreal — Simpson threw another curve ball with the horn-blasted, soulful performance of “All Around You” on Wednesday’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
