Sheryl Crow and Chris Stapleton will collaborate on the upcoming CMT Crossroads: Sheryl Crow & Friends, airing Sept. 27 at 10 p.m. ET on CMT. Ahead of the official airing, Billboard has the exclusive premiere of their stirring duet “Tell Me When It’s Over” today (Sept. 12).
Filmed at Crow’s home studio in Nashville, Stapleton assists on vocals and guitar throughout the bluesy “Tell Me When It’s Over,” a song the pair wrote together and is featured on Crow’s latest album Threads. A storyline of a woman telling her man she doesn’t want to be the last to know when their relationship is over, the song’s soaring guitar riffs, driving beat and Crow’s captivating vocals get the point adequately across.
“Tell Me When It’s Over” is just one duet featured on Crow’s upcoming CMT Crossroads episode. In addition to an appearance from Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Joe Walsh, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, and female duo Lucius will also be included.
The upcoming show will serve as part performance and interview with Crow and her special guests. Additional songs featured on the episode are Crow’s hit “Strong Enough” featuring Lucius, and “Walk Away,” with Walsh, who wrote the song and released it in 1971 with his rock band at the time, The James Gang.
Past episodes of the long-running series have featured Brett Young and Boyz II Men, Shawn Mendes and Zac Brown Band, John Mayer and Keith Urban, Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum, and Katy Perry with Kacey Musgraves. CMT Crossroads: Sheryl Crow & Friends premieres on Sept. 27.
