Just four days after Shania Twain announced that a new album is on the way — her first in 15 years — the country superstar took the stage at Stagecoach Saturday night (April 29) and celebrated her forthcoming LP by debuting the album’s first single, “Life’s About to Get Good.” During her performance, Twain also shared the stage with Nick Jonas.
Before Twain began her new song, she explained that the upbeat tune was part of a solo writing experience she had with the new album. She said that the record has been in the works for quite a while, but writing it was “therapy” for her, likely in the wake of her 2010 divorce from producer Robert “Mutt” Lange.
“I wrote this specific song about the good and bad in life and how important it is to have both,” Twain explained while introducing “Life’s About to Get Good.” “You’ve got to take the good with the bad, right? No pain, no gain. So I wrote a song about a lot of truth, and just finding the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Following her new single, Twain brought out Jonas for her Billy Currington collaboration “Party For Two,” which involved a lot of fangirling from both sides as they bounced around the stage. After Twain gushed over how special the moment was, Jonas added, “Shania Twain is the reason I’m in music today, so thank you for all the inspiration.”
Twain also brought out Kelsea Ballerini to duet on “Any Man of Mine” earlier in her performance. Watch both surprise collabs below.
