The wait for new Sam Hunt music is almost over. The singer debuted a brand new song called “Sinning With You” during his Bud Light House Party tour stop in Calgary, Canada, on Thursday evening (Sept. 19).
“For the folks that are listening at home, I wanted to play something from the new record,” he told the audience to screams. “It’s kind of chill and slow. If y’all will humor me, I’ll play that and then we’ll go out with a bang.”
The singer kicked off the song alone with delicate strums of the acoustic guitar. A confessional ballad where he details his “checkered past” and a girl’s “spotless record,” the singer captivated.
“I never felt like I was sinning with you/ Always felt like I could talk to God in the morning/ I knew that I would end up with you/ Always felt like I could talk to God in the morning/ If it’s so wrong, why did it feel so right/ If it’s so wrong why’d it never feel like sinning with you,” he sings on the chorus.
Earlier in his set, Hunt hinted that a new single is coming “in about a month or so, and a new record coming out first of the year.” The singer’s debut album, Montevallo, was released nearly five years ago in October 2014. His last single, “Downtown’s Dead” dropped in 2018 and followed “Body Like a Back Road,” which reigned for 34 weeks on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
