Sam Hunt is trying something a little different with his new single “Body Like A Back Road.”
The new track boasts a splash of old-school R&B mixed in with Hunt’s country twang, guitar strumming and a snap-along beat reminiscent of Uncle Kracker’s “Follow Me.”
Hunt’s lyrics ring close to John Mayer’s “Your Body Is A Wonderland” personifying his lover singing, “Driving with my eyes closed/I know every curve like the back of my hand/Doing 15 in a 30/I ain’t in no hurry/I’mma take it slow just as fast as I can.”
The “15 in a 30” lyric is a shout-out to his recently announced summer tour of the same name, which will hit 29 cities from June 1 through Sept. 22 and feature Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese as guests. “Body Like A Back Road” is the first single from Hunt’s highly anticipated forthcoming sophomore album, about which the singer has yet to reveal any further details.
