Singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash, also the daughter of late legend Johnny Cash, is determined to see gun violence end in the United States.
One day after the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon on Oct. 1, Cash took to Facebook to post a petition that calls for the reinstatement of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994, which expired in 2004.
If you are as sick of gun violence in this country as I am, then let’s stop talking about it and just do ONE simple…

Nashville Songwriters Hall Adds Rosanne Cash
In addition to posting the petition, Cash also engaged with her followers on the issue and made it a point to keep the conversations on her page civil.
“I feel as strongly and as passionately about this issue as all of you,” Cash wrote in a Facebook comment, “but I won’t stoop to insults. Please, do unfollow or unlike if you can’t maintain basic courtesy.”
The petition, which was started by Cash’s daughter, Chelsea Cromwell, needs 100,000 signatures before Nov. 1 in order to be reviewed by the White House. As of Wednesday Oct. 7, the petition has 4,364 signatures and counting.
