Because of her profession, Warner Bros. recording artist RaeLynn isn’t at home as much as she would prefer. It’s a feeling that her husband also understands. Joshua Davis is currently serving his country in the United States Army, so the time apart can be tough. Still, he does have his ways of letting his wife know he’s thinking about her.
Recently, as a guest on The Storme Warren Show on SiriusXM’s The Highway channel, the singer said he still makes time to let her know she’s on his mind – in a very old-school way. “One of the sweetest moments of our marriage was when he was gone for fourteen weeks. He wrote me a letter every single day he was gone. Every day. Even if he couldn’t send it to me, he wrote one every day. It would make me cry because some of the pages that he would send me were literally three lines, and there was water…it was a crappy piece of paper, and that he was ‘in the field’ that day.”
The content wasn’t as important to the “Love Triangle” singer as the effort, she says. “The ones that got me were the little tiny ones. You knew that he didn’t have time, but he still thought of me. That got me.”
She went on in the interview to say that the personal touch is something she hopes she can keep alive for their offspring. “It honestly makes so much of a difference. They don’t even teach cursive in school anymore. I want to pass on to my kids that there is something so thoughtful about a handwritten thank you. When you want to tell somebody that you love them, just write them a letter. I just think it’s such a lost art, and it’s so cool to know that I have close to a hundred letters that I can give to my kids one day, and my grandkids one day.”
RaeLynn’s upcoming single, “Queens Don’t,” which she co-wrote, will be released this Friday (March 16).
