Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week, Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard’s Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
After spending the last seven weeks on the road on his How’s Ur Girl & How’s Ur Family Pt. 2 Tour, Mason Ramsey is ready to spend Thanksgiving with his loved ones. But after seeing several pretty faces around the country while on tour, the teen star also has love on the brain going into the holiday season.
“There’s not one thing I don’t love about fall. The leaves changing, going to a pumpkin patch, Halloween, and spending time with my family on Thanksgiving — it’s all the best!” Ramsey tells Billboard over email. “But now that I’m 13, I wish I had someone special to do those things with.”
So when curating a playlist for Takeover Tuesday, Ramsey couldn’t help but make it all about what he’s longing for: “Young Love.” “These songs are what I think of when I think of that special person,” he adds.
Ramsey’s 18-song playlist features classic romance tunes like Taylor Swift‘s “Mine,” Thomas Rhett‘s “Die a Happy Man” and Jason Mraz‘s “I’m Yours.” He also shouted out his buddies Florida Georgia Line with their track “H.O.L.Y.” as well as songs by other fellow country artists like Kane Brown‘s “Heaven” and Dan + Shay‘s “Speechless.”
Of course, Ramsey included some of his own love songs too, “Puddle of Love” and “How Could I Not” from his second EP, Twang. He just released the adorable music video for “How Could I Not,” which sees Ramsey and a love interest having fun at a carnival — and shows that maybe he’s not so lovelorn after all.
