Charge up your iPad and smartphone because Kane Brown and Marshmello have a very special performance in store for you on Friday morning’s (Aug. 30) Good Morning America. The country/EDM dynamic duo announced on Tuesday (Aug. 27) that their appearance on the GMA Summer Concert Series will be a first-of-its-kind live immersive virtual reality performance of their song “One Thing Right.”
Using MelodyVR’s live-stream VR technology, the virtual performance from Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield will be the first live music event that will be televised on national TV and in VR globally, at the same time. All you need to do to see the set is download the MelodyVR app on your phone or iPad, with the option to select different Jump Spots, which will allow you to see the performance from on stage with Marshmello and Brown, from the front row or in the middle of the crowd.
“Stoked that fans all over the world can experience our GMA performance live in virtual reality,” said Marshmello in a statement. I can’t wait for crowds in the park, on TV and at home in VR to come together for this – It’s gonna be sick!” Brown added, “It is really cool to be a part of something like this that’s never been done before. I can’t wait to hit the stage with Marshmello to play our new song for the first time, and for fans at home to be able to experience this performance in a whole new way.”
The 8:15 a.m. performance will also be accessible in 360-degree video for owners of Samsung Gear and Oculus VR headsets, as well as on-demand on the MelodyVR app.
