Maren Morris stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday evening (May 6), where she performed “A Song for Everything.” A nostalgic tune featured on her sophomore album Girl, “A Song for Everything” details the important role music often plays in one’s life.
Alongside an upright bass, accordion, acoustic guitars and delicate percussion, the soft accompaniment allowed Morris’ descriptive lyrics and voice to shine on the emotional ballad. “You were looking for the words/ Somebody said it first, so you didn’t have to/ It was looking right out you,” she crooned.
Penned by Morris, Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz, “A Song for Everything” highlights Morris’ vulnerable side and the power music can have on listeners.
In addition to late night appearances, Morris is in the midst of her Girl: The World Tour. The singer recently added more tour dates to the trek, which continues through November and features openers RaeLynn, Hailey Whitters and Tenille Townes on select dates.
