Maren Morris dropped a brand new single, “Common,” featuring Brandi Carlile, today (Feb. 8), after debuting it onstage earlier last week.
The Grammy-nominated artists — who are also set to perform seperately at Sunday’s (Feb. 10) ceremony — united for the catchy country track, which features thoughtful lyrics about coming together despite past differences. “Oh, we got way too much in common, so what’s the point in fighting?/ We got way too many problems if I’m being honest/ I don’t know what God is/ Oh, we got way too much in common/ Oh, maybe we forgot it, with everybody talkin’, ain’t nobody listenin’/ I don’t know what God is/ ‘Cause we got way too much in common,” the duo harmonize on the chorus.
Carlile, who is the most-nominated artist at the Grammys this year, had Texas native Morris join her on Feb. 2 during her Girls Just Wanna Weekend concert in Riviera Maya, Mexico to debut the collabortion. This isn’t the first time they’ve shared a stage, as they also performed at CMT’s Artists of the Year show in 2018.
