Little Big Town Crushes Hot Country Songs Chart With ‘Girl Crush’
The group issued this statement Wednesday (June 17) on their Facebook page: “With heavy hearts we want to let you guys know that Jimi will have to undergo surgery next week to remove a polyp on his vocal cord. As a result, doctors have ordered him to rest his voice and completely recuperate before we continue touring. All shows through July 30th will be cancelled or rescheduled. It breaks our hearts to let you guys down, but Jimi’s health is the most important thing and he is expected to make a full recovery with rest and treatment. We will keep everyone updated on Jimi’s progress. Thanks for your understanding and support. – K,K,J & P”
Little Big Town — who will host the ABC special CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock on August 4 — recently earned their second Billboard Hot Country Songs No. 1 with “Girl Crush,” which also peaked at No. 18 on the Hot 100. “Girl Crush” is the second-biggest-selling country song of 2015, with 1.15 million downloads sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music; Sam Hunt’s “Take Your Time” is top seller, with 1.17 million.
