Country duo Florida Georgia Line paid a visit to The Late Late Show on Tuesday (Aug. 14) to perform their hit single “Simple.” Donning Mumford and Sons-esque Dust Bowl-era outfits complete with suspenders and buttoned-up vests, the band began their unplugged, sepia-toned performance with some whimsical whistling before launching into the song’s catchy and “simple” melody.
Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, both strumming acoustic guitars, were clearly enjoying themselves, as they grinned through the song’s chorus, “It’s like one, two three/ Just as easy as can be/ Just the way you look at me/ You make me smile/ Ain’t no need to complicate it, we both know that’s overrated/ We’ve been there, it’s safe to say it ain’t our style,” singing about love in the modern age of Instagram and how it should be, like the song, simple and uncomplicated. After a brief hand-clapping breakdown, the duo charged into a climatic musical interlude that blew away the sepia tones, bringing viewers and fans back to the reality of their complicated lives in full color.
