Keith Urban definitely earned his entertainer of the year nomination at the 2017 Academy of Country Music Awards.
After helping to kick off the show with a performance of “Wasted Time” during a No. 1s medley, Urban sang two more of his hits, “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and “The Fighter” — even bringing Carrie Underwood out to make for an all-star duet on the latter.
While “The Fighter” is the more exciting tune of the two, Urban’s ACMs performance of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” was just as intriguing thanks to the coloring of the stage. Along with blue background lighting, Urban was spotlighted in black-and-white, with the blue on his electric guitar as the only color emphasized.
Once it was time for Underwood to join in, though, suddenly the blues went away and the stage was lit up with a fiery orange setting.
Urban’s wife Nicole Kidman joined him for the big night, and naturally, the camera couldn’t help flash back and forth between Urban’s performance and Kidman jamming along to both performances.
