The rise of Kane Brown has been well documented in just about every article that has been printed about the Tennessee native. In 2014, the singer began posting his cover versions of current hits by other artists on YouTube, and word spread like wildfire of his considerable talents. One such clip — his take on George Strait’s “Check Yes Or No” — garnered over 7 million views alone!
Eventually, RCA Records took notice of the singer and offered him a record deal. His fans responded with each single and EP release, but radio was a little bit slower to warm to his music. However, as it turned out, an age-old country formula — a male/female collaboration with clever lyrics — began to fully establish Brown as one of the fastest-rising talents in the business. Here are 10 Kane Brown songs that have definitely made an impact with his fans at this early point in his career!

10. Kane Brown – “Wide Open”
The singer cut this song for Chapter 1, his debut EP for Sony in the spring of 2016, and the song was very much straight down the middle of what country radio was playing. The track made it to the Top 40 on the Country Songs chart based simply on Brown’s fan appeal alone. It’s a shame that Sony didn’t try this energetic song out as a promotional single. To quote our Chief Executive, it could have been “huge.”
9. Kane Brown – “Hit The Gas”
Brown showed a quite a bit of his personality on this track from Closer. Though the singer has had a hand in writing the bulk of his material, this Kane Brown song was written by two of Nashville’s most seasoned professional tunesmiths — Deana Carter and Levi Hummon.
8. Kane Brown – “Thunder In The Rain”
Brown showed his passionate side with this riveting number from his self-titled debut album that he co-wrote with Josh Hoge and Matthew McVaney. The track found its’ way to the Top 30 on the Country Songs chart, quickly becoming a favorite of his female following, thanks to his seductive tone.
7. Kane Brown – “Excuses”
Once again teaming with Hoge and McVaney, Brown turned in one of his most moody song performances with a lyric about a man who has finally come to terms that his lover has been playing him all along. One of the more effective cuts in the Kane Brown song catalog.
6. Kane Brown – “Hometown”
Brown turned to Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley from Florida Georgia Line for this track about a man who simply wants to be known and respected in the town where he’s from. It’s a lyric and a sentiment that Brown could definitely relate to, feeling the same way about his native Chattanooga, Tenn. The song was also co-written by James McNair and Cameron Montgomery.
5. Kane Brown – “I Love That I Hate You”
The only song from this list to not be featured on an EP or full-length album, this Brown single climbed to the Top 40. The song had an undeniable swagger to it, allowing the singer to play the role of a man who is actually relieved to be moving on by himself. Sometimes, the grass is greener!
4. Kane Brown – “Grandaddy’s Farm”
Perhaps the most sentimental and nostalgic in the Kane Brown song catalog, the singer teamed up with Nashville songwriting greats Troy Verges, Blair Daly and Josh Johnson. The lyrics were heartfelt and sincere, and Brown delivered a performance that stands as one of his best.
3. Kane Brown – “Cold Spot”
Enlisting the help of Allen Shamblin and Tom Douglas, this moving ballad served as a tribute to small town America. Undoubtedly, Brown had to be thinking about towns such as South Pittsburg, Tenn. or Trenton, Ga. — all places that are in close vicinity to where the singer grew up.
2. Kane Brown – “What Ifs”
The song that effectively broke Brown through at country radio features a guest appearance from Lauren Alaina, who went to high school with Brown. The song itself almost didn’t even make the album, but public reaction to the track online persuaded Brown and the label to include the song. It appears that they made the right decision!
1. Kane Brown – “Learning”
The singer has been very vocal about many of his struggles in life, and he documents those in this telling mid-tempo song where he realizes that to truly move on, you’ve got to let go of the past that binds you to those memories. It’s definitely a track that RCA should look at as a single, as it could give country fans a unique chance to get to know Brown as never before!
