Published on March 5, Vogue‘s article details how they caught up with the Grammy award-winner while she was on tour in Denver, and how she was the perfect muse for the artistically-sculpted clothes that “defy description or assignation.”
“… Her mesmerizing blend of emotional directness and swirling pop melodies, old-school musicianship and new-school production, is a cross-genre triumph that feels so right for now,” the article notes.
Director Bardia Zeinali and fashion editor Jorden Bickham had Musgraves flowing around in a 1970s-style motel, where she also sang a snippet of her dreamy country-pop “Velvet Elvis” tune while wearing a ruffled heart-print Rodarte dress and a red-strapless Oscar de la Renta gown, among others.
They also enlisted drag legend Andrea Staxxx, who wore a pink tulle ensemble and ballerino Zinabu Costello, sporting a turquoise gown.
