In her latest installment of visuals from her buzzing third studio album Golden Hour, Kacey Musgraves delivers perhaps her most emotional clip to date with “Mother,” fittingly released on Mother’s Day (May 13).
Musgraves is first spotted serenading while sitting down in a floral dress, but as she sings, intermittent shots are shown that represent her upbringing and the influence her mother had on her young life. From being a newborn to enduring scraped knees and puberty, viewers are given an ultimately relatable point of view on Musgraves’ early years. By the end of the video — barely over a minute long — the camera pans out from the singer to reveal a special guest sitting right beside her.
The “Mother” clip follows videos for “Space Cowboy” and “Butterflies.” In addition to celebrating maternity, she also spent her weekend giving a performance of fan-favorite Golden Hour tracks “High Horse” and “Slow Burn” on Saturday Night Live.
