Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week Billboard taps chart-topping artists and taste-makers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard’s Spotify account. We give the artists free reign to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
Country star Justin Moore just announced today (Feb. 13) that he’ll be performing at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium on May 2, where he will be belting out his own hits like “Somebody Else Will” and “Kinda Don’t Care.” The announcement is as meaningful as it is exciting for Moore, as he coincidentally graced the iconic stage to perform some country classics almost exactly nine years ago to the day.
“I’m a huge fan of the tradition of country music so this show will be sentimental,” Moore told Billboard of his special forthcoming show. “Playing the Ryman is more about what it’s meant to country music as a whole from generation to generation for me, and I’m really humbled to be able to play it.”
To prepare for his grand re-entrance, Moore put together an exclusive playlist of his most beloved classic country hits (and old rock favorites) that helped inspire him to be the artist he is today. From the upbeat Tom Petty anthem “Here Comes My Girl” to Willie Nelson’s heartbreaking slow tune “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground,” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s southern rock hit, “Tuesday’s Gone” to Frank Sinatra’s jazz hit “Come Fly With Me,” there’s plenty for a nostalgia lover to dive into on this playlist.
