Country fans have become familiar with the bluesy tones of Joshua Scott Jones’ voice through his work as part of the duo Steel Magnolia. Together with Meghan Linsey, the duo enjoyed success with “Keep On Lovin’ You.” Now, Jones is putting his solo foot forward with the release of his debut single, “Honk (If You’re Tonky).” Billboard is excited to bring you the exclusive debut of the video. “This has been a long time coming for me,” Jones tells Billboard. “I feel like it’s really a chance for my voice to be heard. It’s really a personal record that reflects on my head space over the past few years and what I’ve been through. I’m excited about it because I think it will translate well to all the fans we had as a duo in Steel Magnolia. I tried to take them with me for the ride, and gain a few more. It means a lot to me.”
He said he borrowed a page from a pop icon for the video concept. “I had the idea for the video from Beyonce’s ‘Single Ladies.’ I wanted to make a dance video, but a honky tonk style video, so we shot half of it in black and white, and the other half in color. It was me, and two dancers. One was my girlfriend. They choreographed it. They brought the vision to life. It’s edgy, cool, and upbeat. I think it’s something people won’t want to take their eyes off of.”
The single is available at all digital retailers, including iTunes.
