Josh Abbott Band will release their new EP Catching Fire on June 28, and Billboard has the exclusive premiere of the video for new song “Little More You” today (May 23).
The feel-good love song has frontman Josh Abbott’s infectious vocals at the forefront alongside soaring fiddle, banjo and percussion accompaniment. With a sing-along chorus and optimistic outlook, the Texas natives return to their musical roots on “Little More You.” The song was penned by Troy Cartwright, Benjy Davis and Neil Medley.
“Little More You is classic Josh Abbott Band,” Abbott tells Billboard. “There’s fiddle, there’s banjo and it’s a love song. I really like that it’s an upbeat happy vibe; a song anyone anywhere can listen to, smile, and tap their foot.”
The music video was directed by Evan Kaufmann (Chase Rice, Chris Young) and features Jep and Jess Robertson from Duck Dynasty. The couple, who are parents to five children, take a respite from their busy lives for a date night. Filmed at a local bar as Josh Abbott Band performs, the pair enjoy some quality time together before they head back for a pillow fight with their clan.
“This music video is so enjoyable because it’s not only shot so well but Jep and Jess really give it an authentic feel,” adds Abbott. “Their love for each other and their family comes through the lens and it’s just a feel-good make-your-heart-smile video.”
“Little More You” is the first taste of new music for the band since 2017’s Until My Voice Goes Out. The Catching Fire EP was produced by Marshall Altman (Marc Broussard, Frankie Ballard, Aaron Watson) and showcases a sense of personal renewal for the band and its frontman. “We have a whole new refocused attitude on what we’re going to do now moving forward,” Abbott says. “Catching Fire is a reflection of what’s happened over the last year and a half of my life.”
