Jon Pardi caught up with Billboard’s Taylor Weatherby on the red carpet at the CMT Music Awards on Wednesday (June 6) for a chat about Cardi B, new music and Bruno Mars.
Asked about the picture Brothers Osborne recently posted of Pardi’s head Photoshopped onto Cardi B’s body, along with the caption “Pardi B,” the singer said, “There’s other things that you can be upset about than that. I laugh at it. The Brothers sent it to me. I love the Brothers, like I’m Brother Pardi.”
“I don’t listen to her,” he explained when asked if he listens to Cardi B’s music. “I know she’s huge, but as a lyric songwriter, some of the stuff that she gets away with, I’m like I better just not listen to that and be trying to throw that stuff in country music. Ain’t never gonna fly!”
“I think she’s hilarious,” he added. “I got much respect because she is killing it and she’s doing her own thing and that’s what makes a true artist.”
In the video, which you can watch in full above, Pardi also gives an update on his new album, telling Billboard that he is “almost done with the next record, but we still need one more session,” and reveals that his favorite music video is Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic.”
