Nashville-based country band LANCO took some time to chat with Billboard and revealed some interesting facts about themselves as part of the “You Should Know” video series.
When asked to discuss a small impact a stranger had on them, frontman Brandon Lancaster says that person would be Jay Joyce.
“He’s our producer, he’s produced our record and is just a big time producer and I met him randomly working my job at a concession stand,” Lancaster explains. “And he was cool enough and nice enough to actually listen to some of our music and ended up working with us.”
Discussing what motivates LANCO, Lancaster says that while there are many, they are largely inspired by the music they create. “That’s kind of where it all starts,” he tells Billboard. “But then getting to take that music out to the fans and getting to see fans show up to shows and sing along with the songs, that kind of always reminds us of why we’re doing what we’re doing.”
The group also divulge that the first place they ever performed together was a at a venue in Nashville called The End. “It was a packed out show with like 20 people,” Lancaster jokes, “who were really just our friends.”
