Garth Brooks is switching venues from stadiums to dive bars, and now to the TV screen. His four-part TV special, Garth: The Road I’m On, will premiere on the A&E channel this winter as part of the network’s Biography Presents series.
Biography Presents “tells the stories of the world’s most original people,” according to the series’ biography, which Brooks claims is what attracted him to this project.
“If I was ever going to do a documentary on my life and music, I wanted A&E to do it,” he said, according to The Boot. “They have interviewed all the people who would know what the true stories are, so no matter how this turns out… I can’t say it isn’t the truth.”
Garth: The Road I’m On will highlight his career through interviews with him, his wife and fellow country star Trisha Yearwood, his original band and more, with behind-the-scenes footage of Brooks and his touring crew during his current massive 2019 Stadium Tour.
“The Biography brand continues to be the gold standard for superior biographical storytelling and we are truly honored to have the opportunity to partner with the iconic Garth Brooks,” wrote Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, in a press release. “The story of his meteoric rise to fame is one of true grit, talent and sacrifice with him reaching a level of global success very few have ever achieved and we couldn’t think of a better platform than Biography to share his personal journey with viewers for the first time.”
Other artists who have been featured on A&E’s Biography Presents include Farrah Fawcett and David Cassidy.
