After nearly a decade in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Dolly Parton‘s Pirates Voyage Dinner and Show is coming to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The attraction will open in spring 2019, and will involve an indoor lagoon, acrobatics, battles and live animals. The original music score for the adventure show was composed by Parton and Mark Brymer.
“The show has been so successful in Myrtle Beach that we kept looking at Pigeon Forge and wondering why we didn’t already have a Pirates show there,” Parton said in a statement. “We have the perfect location, in one of the hottest areas of Pigeon Forge, and the time is now for my pirates to stake claim to the Great Smoky Mountains!”
Once completed, Parton says the 21,000 square foot arena next to The Island in Pigeon Forge will “be the stage for Crimson and Sapphire pirates to battle on deck, in the water and in the sky above their full-sized pirate ships in a 15-foot-deep indoor lagoon.” Site construction is due to begin in early January with an opening planned for spring 2019. Next year is already shaping up to be a busy one for the 72 year-old country icon. In June, she announced that she would be producing and starring in a series of films premiering on Netflix in 2019, which each one focusing on one of her legendary songs.
We’re getting ready to set sail in The Great Smoky Mountains! My pirates are stakin’ their claim on Pigeon Forge, so y’all come out and have a little fun with us in 2019!
