Brainard, who has worked with singers like Brandy Clark and Jerrod Niemann, was left unconscious after being punched repeatedly and choked by the male driver. He now needs to undergo reconstructive surgery after suffering multiple injuries to his face and mouth.
“His jaw on both sides is broken,” DeLoach told The Tennessean. “He has lacerations on his chin and lip. His teeth are shattered in the back. He’s going to make it, but he is not doing well and has severe injuries to his face.”
Brainard will reportedly undergo reconstructive surgery on Tuesday (Sept. 29).
Billboard reached out to his rep for comment on his condition.
