Carrie Underwood received a special undercover assignment from Jimmy Kimmel for his Undercover Sing segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
The 2019 CMA Awards co-host head to Nashville, Tenn. ahead of the awards show tonight and visited a boot shop where out-of-town customers got a special treat that’s not usually found at the store.
Once the store’s staff got customers to talk about themselves, the country songstress listened in from the back room and turned those nuggets of information into custom jingles to the tune of “Before He Cheats.” Little did the customers know it wasn’t the radio playing overhead about where they were from, what they were wearing and what kind of boots they were buying.
“Right now, we got three ladies who want to buy some boots and go line dancing. Right now, one lady has purple hair, she’s the punk rock one gonna get some boots now,” Underwood serenaded the group of three, who unconsciously started dancing. “These girls are coming from Virginia. Virginia is for lovers, lovers of boots.”
Once one of them realized the song was specifically about them, the “Before He Cheats” singer came out of hiding and walked into the store to give them a surprise greeting.
She gave some customers special orders in order to cop a pair of free boots, from “if you do a dance for me, you’re gonna get those cowboy boots for free” to “high five each other and I’ll bring your boots right out to you.”
When one man named Dan came in with a specific request for boots made out of ostrich belly, Underwood hit him with the facts straight-faced before bursting into laughter in the backroom.
“Ostrich is the world’s largest bird that can run 43 miles per hour,” she crooned. “Did you know chicken and ostriches are the closest modern relatives to Tyrannosaurus rex? I bet you didn’t.”
