Carrie Underwood made her triumphant return to the spotlight at April’s ACM Awards with her latest single “Cry Pretty” after an accident late last year kept the singer hiding out as she recovered. She brought the same song to the 2018 CMT Music Awards stage on Wednesday night (June 6), this time taking a victory lap with the certified hit, which has so far peaked at No. 5 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
She started the performance walking through strings of Swarovski crystals dangling from the ceiling of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, before emerging from the glittery maze. Her accessories matched the blingy set, with bedazzled teardrops painted under her eyes and an elaborate bracelet that connected to four of her fingers with strings of gems.
As she reliably does, Underwood wailed the song, not missing a note of the power ballad.
