“Since You’ve Gone To Heaven” is the final track on Brandy Clark’s recently released Big Day In A Small Town. It’s a mournful ballad address directly to a deceased father: “And I hate you had to leave us, but glad you didn’t live to see this/ The broken pieces of the family you made/ Mama’s looking so much older, baby brother can’t stay sober/ I bet you’re rolling over in your grave.”

The new black and white clip for the track matches the somber tone of the lyrics, with Clark strumming and singing alone in a recording studio. Both serve to amplify the impact of what is already an affecting tune.
“At the time I sat down to make Big Day in a Small Town, I had been on the road touring really hard for three years,” the singer recently told Billboard. “I hadn’t done that before 12 Stories, so there were certain elements of the live world that now I’m aware of. I see what resonates with fans and what doesn’t.”
