Country star Brad Paisley started a GoFundMe page on Wednesday (June 29) to raise money for his home state of West Virginia in the aftermath of the destructive floods that occurred last week.
As the waters recede, now there is so much work to be done. We are working on the best ways to help West Virginia. Stay tuned.

He announced the initiative via his Facebook page after performing an acoustic cover of John Denver‘s “Country Roads” — “Country roads, take me home/ To the place I belong/ West Virginia” — while wearing a shirt honoring his home state.
“On June 23rd, my home state of West Virginia experienced tremendous flooding that killed over 20 people and destroyed entire small towns,” the singer wrote on GoFundMe. “Three counties have been declared federal disasters and 44 of the 55 counties have been declared in a state of emergency. Now that the waters are receding it’s time to pitch in and help in any way we can.”

“Now is the time for all of us — whether you’re a West Virginian, a fan of mine, or know a West Virginian, or just an American — if you have a dollar or two to spare, send it to this site,” Paisley added on Facebook.
The singer’s goal is to raise $1 million. “This is doable and only a small portion of what is needed,” he noted. At press time, the total was already north of $120,000.
