When Bobby Bones isn’t hosting his wildly popular, nationally syndicated radio show The Bobby Bones Show — or beating out Ryan Seacrest for a spot in the National Radio Hall of Fame — the on-air personality is likely goofing off with his band, Bobby Bones and the Raging Idiots.
What began as a fun side project with his radio show producer Eddie for charity has since turned into a successful kids album, Kiddy Up! (reaching No. 3 on the Kids Albums chart in 2016) as well as a full-length musical comedy album that same year that hit No. 4 on the Top Country Albums chart. But while what they’re doing is clearly resonating with many, Bones acknowledges that he and his band aren’t trying to reach superstar status.
“We have our own stuff, but we really play songs that make people dance and have a good time. We wear goofy tracksuits, so people don’t take us too seriously,” Bones explains to Billboard backstage at Faster Horses music festival. Once Eddie chimed in declaring that they’re the most entertaining band, Bones concurred. “We are the most entertaining band in country music today. Not the best, but the most entertaining.”
The guys stopped by prior to their (yes, very entertaining) afternoon set Sunday (July 23) to chat with Billboard about the band and their success. Watch the full interview above.
