
Adam Chaffins paints the picture of a past relationship in the reflective “Her,” which Billboard premieres the video for today (Nov. 26).
The four-minute Jon Karr-directed clip brings a relationship’s demise to the forefront with glimpses of past memories alongside a blazing fire, smoke-engulfed room and dying flowers.
Chaffins tells Billboard that while writing the emotional “Her” he was going through a time when the head and the heart weren’t on the same page. The song, which features a soaring string arrangement alongside his brooding vocals, is the first taste of Chaffins’ upcoming debut full-length album, Some Things Won’t Last, out Feb. 21, 2020.
“It’s a song about trying to understand endings, trying to separate love and lust,” Chaffins tells Billboard.

“Her” follows the release of the classically trained multi-instrumentalist’s cover of Keith Whitley’s “I’m Over You,” which was part of a three-song EP. Chaffins’ Some Things Won’t Last was produced by Ethan Ballinger (Lee Ann Womack, Aubrie Sellers, Andrew Combs) and is available on Feb. 21, 2020 via Empire distribution.
