After three years of laying low in Los Angeles since the release of their 2015 album Sounds Good Feels Good, 5 Seconds of Summer returned to the City of Angels in the midst of their sold out tour. They rocked the Belasco Theater on Wednesday night (April 25), giving the loving fans in attendance the comeback they’ve been eagerly waiting for.
Upon drummer Ashton Irwin stepping foot on the stage, the packed crowd screamed so loud, the entire theater shook—a tangible testament to the unique and true devotion of the band’s followers. The set list that followed (below) combined old favorites with some unreleased tracks, and included their upcoming album’s title track “Youngblood.”
Their third studio album, set for release on June 22, was a topic throughout the night, as both singer Luke Hemmings and guitarist Michael Clifford asked the crowd repeatedly, “Who’s ready for a third 5 Seconds of Summer album?” The question, as expected, was received by a deafening amount of excited squeals and tears of joy.
A heartwarming highlight of the night was the performance of break up ballad, “Amnesia,” which the band barely sang. The fans were so touched by the hit track, they belted out every lyric without missing a beat.
The hour-long set ended with the first single off Youngblood, “Want You Back.” See the full set list below.
